UAB Drops Hard-Fought Finale to Florida Atlantic 2-1

BOCA RATON, Fla. –FAU’s Ivan Mykhailenko recorded a brace in the first half including a penalty kick goal in the 37thminute as the Owls picked up a 2-1 victory over UAB on Saturday afternoon. 

The Blazers concludes their season with a record of 3-12-1 overall, 1-4-1 in Conference USA play while FAU finishes with a 6-4-2, 3-4-0 in Conference USA.   
  

UAB started the match with its first shot attempt coming from a penalty kick within 10 minutes of the match. Aodhán O’Hara calmly scored his second penalty kick goal of the season in the eighth minute of the match.  

In the 26thminute, FAU’s Graeme Pratt took a shot that ricocheted off of the post but in the area of Mykhailenko, who evened the score with a header.  

Mykhailenko was fouled in the penalty box in the 37thminute that led to him scoring his second goal of the game off of a penalty kick.   

The Blazers’ defense managed to slow the FAU offense down in the second half, only allowing four shots the rest of the match after allowing 10 in the first half.
