UAB Baseball’s Tuesday Contest with Alabama State Postponed

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB baseball team has postponed its home matchup with Alabama State on Tuesday afternoon due to heavy rain. The Blazers and Hornets will now look to move their Southside tilt to March 18 at 4 p.m. The game location has not been determined.

UAB is fresh off a battle with Notre Dame where the Blazers took one game in the weekend series. In UAB’s 10-7 victory over the Fighting Irish, seniors Colton Schultz and J Paul Fullerton made monumental impacts with one swing of the bat. Schultz cracked an early two-run shot to cut Notre Dame’s opening inning lead to one, while Fullerton went yard for his second opening series grand slam in as many seasons to give UAB separation in the bottom of the seventh for the eventual victory. Despite not coming out on top, fellow senior right-hander Austin Bohannon was lights out from the mound as he tossed a no hitter through 6.1 innings in game one.

The Blazers will now turn their attention to a road battle at Jacksonville State slated for 3 p.m. Wednesday at Jim Case Stadium. Live stat and streaming information for each game is available on the UAB baseball schedule page.
