UAB Baseball Falls to WKU 5-3

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The UAB baseball team dropped the rubber match of its series to WKU, 4-3, on Sunday afternoon.

Caleb Floyd led the way for the Blazers (27-19, 11-13 C-USA) with a pair of hits and two RBI. Josh Sears also added an RBI. Brooks Walton made the start, going 2.2 innings and allowed two runs. Aidan Moza came in after Walton to throw five innings, allowing one run on three hits.

WKU (16-30, 6-18 C-USA) got on the board first with four runs in the bottom of the third inning.

The Blazers responded with three runs in the fourth inning. A Sears double knocked in John Marc Mullins and Floyd’s singles scored Sears and Christian Hall.

The Hilltoppers got an insurance run in the eighth inning to make the score 5-3.

UAB had the tying run on first base in the bottom of the ninth inning, but could not score.

Up next, the Blazers travel to Montgomery to take on Alabama State on Tuesday evening. They return to Young Memorial Field for a weekend series against FIU May 13-15.
