UAB Baseball Announces 2020 Schedule

BIRMINGHAM – The UAB baseball program and coach Brian Shoop announced the team’s 2020 schedule on Wednesday. Out of the 55-game slate, the schedule features 34 home games, including 23 at Regions Field. UAB will also host three SEC opponents in Auburn, Alabama and Mississippi State. The Tigers and Bulldogs are each a year removed from advancing into the 2019 College World Series.

“We have a very special combination to offer our Blazer fans this coming spring. We play an incredible schedule. We play at an amazing venue, and we have a very good team that people will really enjoy watching. We have special young men that our Birmingham community will feel great about supporting and bringing their children out to root for,” said Shoop. “Our team is incredibly excited about the 2020 baseball adventure that will begin with Notre Dame in just nine short weeks. It is going to be a lot of fun!”

The Blazers will kick off the season by hosting a weekend series against Notre Dame Feb. 14-16 with the first two games being played at Regions Field and the series finale at Young Memorial Field.

UAB will next host Alabama State for a midweek matchup on Feb. 18, then be back home for a series with UNC Asheville Feb. 21-23 at Regions Field.

The Blazers’ next home appearance will begin a 13-game home stand, 12 of which will be held at Regions Field. UAB will begin the stretch by welcoming Miami (Ohio) on Feb. 28-March 1. The first two games will be played at Regions Field with the series topper held at Young Memorial Field. The Blazers will continue the remainder of the stand at Regions Field beginning with a pair of midweeks against Troy on March 3 and Jacksonville State on March 4. The following series will play host to Toledo on March 6-8. UAB will then welcome its first SEC opponent in Alabama on March 10, the final contest before conference play. UAB will begin its conference slate with WKU on March 13-15 before hosting a midweek against Samford on March 17 to close out the home stint.

The Blazers will be back at Regions Field next for a five-game stretch, including both 2019 College World Series participants on the schedule. UAB will first host Mississippi State for a midweek on March 24. FIU will then come to Birmingham for a weekend series March 27-29. In-state rival Auburn will cap the home stand on March 31.

Following eight road games, the Blazers will host Middle Tennessee April 17-19 for the first conference series at Young Memorial Field. UAB will hit the road once more before LA Tech comes to Young Memorial Field on May 1-3.

After a final week on the road, the Blazers will wrap up the regular season by hosting defending Conference USA tournament champions Southern Miss May 14-16 at Young Memorial Field.

The 2020 Conference USA Baseball Championship is scheduled for May 20-24 in Biloxi, Miss. as the top eight teams in the conference will advance to the tournament.
