Two Remaining Home Games, Vote for Wester

BOCA RATON, Fla. – There are just two home games remaining on the 2023 schedule, which means there are just two more Boca Raton opportunities to watch the most prolific wide receiver in program history do what he does best. This Saturday at 4 p.m. LaJohntay Wester, a 2023 Biletnikoff and Paul Hornung Award candidate, will lead the Florida Atlantic University Owls when they play host to Eastern Carolina University.

Florida Atlantic (4-5, 3-2 AAC) will welcome ECU (1-8, 0-5 AAC) to Paradise for the first time. The two teams previously met in 2013. While ECU came away with the 31-13 victory in the Owls’ first Conference USA contest, it would be the last year for the Pirates in C-USA. This meeting will be the first as an American Athletic Conference foe.

Defensively, FAU will be led by the consistent play of Jarron Morris. Morris has a team leading 65 tackles, including a team leading 6.5 for a loss of 19 yards. The grad transfer’s work does not end there. He has a team leading two interceptions and a score along with five pass breakups and two forced fumbles. Fellow transfer Jackson Ambush has contributed 61 tackles, four for a loss of 19 yards and has added a sack and an INT. But it all starts upfront with the play of Evan Anderson. Anderson has turned in his best season as an Owl with 44 tackles, including four tackles for a loss of which 2.5 were sacks for a loss of 10.

VOTE FOR WESTER

Wester, a junior from Palmetto, Florida, either holds or is on pace to hold every FAU receiving record. But his versatility is what caught the eyes of the Paul Hornung Award. The Paul Hornung Award, presented by Texas Roadhouse, will recognize the nation’s most versatile player.

No one represents this more than Wester. Last week alone, Wester recorded 219 receiving yards and three scores. He added a three-yard rushing TD and two punts for a total of 43 yards. His efforts equated to more than half of the team’s total yards. Now that is versatile. While Wester earned a spot on this week’s Paul Hornung Honor Roll, he knows he can’t do it alone on the field or for national recognition. This award is selected by a committee of 17 sports journalists, former NFL stars and you, the fans, make up the 18th vote. Please vote for LaJohntay Wester, who is listed at the bottom in alphabetical order. Click HERE and vote once a day through November 12.
