TPC Racing Expands IMSA Program to Lamborghini Super Trofeo With Tom Kerr

Kerr Living the Dream and Making the Jump to a Brand New Program For TPC Racing

JESSUP, Maryland (August 13, 2020) – TPC Racing and longtime driver Tom Kerr are expanding the team’s IMSA racing footprint, entering the IMSA Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America championship beginning next week at VIRginia International Raceway (VIR).   Kerr moves to the new program where he will run in LB Cup for gentlemen drivers and those new to professional racing. TPC Racing will conduct the championship with support from Lamborghini Sterling in Sterling, Virginia, and The Vein & Vascular Institute of Tampa Bay.   “This is a great opportunity, not just for TPC Racing but for Tom as well,” Harris Levitas, Director of Race Operations, said. “When Tom started with us in Porsche Cup, it was typically just one or two cars each weekend. He’s been a big part of our growth in that program, running six cars the last time out at Road America. We’re optimistic that this step does the same for the new Lamborghini Super Trofeo program here at TPC Racing as well. We’re thrilled to work closely with the Lamborghini Squadra Corse team and Chris Ward, who have been a huge help in making this all come together. It’s a real honor to partner with Lamborghini Sterling as our sponsoring dealer. Being so close to our headquarters make this the perfect pairing, and we’re excited to move forward with them to open a new chapter at TPC Racing.”

For Kerr, the most exciting opportunity is to step into the Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO race car. “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me,” Kerr said. “Lamborghini treats you like a star. Lamborghini Sterling is involved to help us out. They’re appreciative and happy you’re there. It’s a great series, it’s a prestigious series. I’m a gentleman driver just living the dream.” Kerr and TPC Racing are getting their first taste of the car this week at VIR in advance of the upcoming race. “We’ve knocked this around for about a year, and now is the time,” Levitas said. “As challenging as 2020 has been in some ways, it’s also created some opportunities to be bold and really explore the possibilities, and this is a great step for Tom. I think he’ll really have a lot of fun with this car and have a chance to be really competitive.” To start, Kerr will run the LB Cup and drive the full race distance himself. Lamborghini Super Trofeo also offers shared drives in multiple classes that include an additional amateur racer, or a chance to pair with a professional driver. “It’s so exciting for everybody,” Kerr said. “It’s not just me, it’s the crew, it’s TPC Racing. The guys at the shop are excited. I love to race, I love to drive, I love the cars, I love the sport. We’re going to start with LB Cup, but there are so many options with this car. I could get another driver and run in Am, or run in the Pro/Am class. We’re going to explore them all.” The first opportunity for TPC Racing and Kerr to compete comes at the Michelin GT Challenge at VIR, August 21-23. The doubleheader weekend includes a 50-minute race on both Saturday and Sunday. TPC Racing will also compete that same weekend with the team’s IMSA Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama drivers.
