Grace, Nevins & Selvie to be inducted on Friday, Nov. 15
TAMPA, OCT. 31, 2019 – Tickets are now available to the general public to attend the induction dinner of the Class of 2019 into the USF Athletic Hall of Fame.
The sixth class of inductees to the Hall of Fame is a stellar class of Bulls, including Shantia Grace (women’s basketball, 2005-09), Sara Nevins (softball, 2011-14) and George Selvie (football, 2006-09).
They will be enshrined on Friday, Nov. 15 (the night before the Bulls football team faces Cincinnati at Raymond James Stadium) in a dinner event starting at 6:00 p.m. at the Marshall Student Center ballroom on the USF Campus.

Individual tickets for the event, which includes dinner and a social hour with hors d’oeuvres and an open bar, are $100 per person or can be purchased as a table for eight for $800.
“We are very excited to induct this tremendous class of Bulls that have had such a significant impact on USF Athletics to our Hall of Fame,” USF Vice President of Athletics Michael Kelly said. “I look forward to a very memorable evening as we induct our first Hall of Fame class in six years and celebrate the outstanding history of USF Athletics.”
The USF Athletic Hall of Fame, which inducted its first class in 2009, currently has 22 individuals and one team among its honored members of outstanding contributors to Bulls athletics. The 2019 class will be the first to be inducted to the Hall of Fame since 2013.

Biographies for the 2019 Class are below:
Shantia Grace • Women’s Basketball
The third student-athlete from the women’s basketball program to be inducted to the Hall of Fame, joining Wanda Guyton (Class of 2009) and Jessica Dickson (Class of 2012), Grace was a three-time All-BIG EAST selection who earned first-team honors during the 2008-09 season. She was named the most valuable player of the 2009 WNIT after leading the Bulls to the championship title. The guard led USF in assists for four straight seasons and in scoring for two seasons while setting program career records for assists (610) and starts (129). Grace stands third all-time in scoring (1,941), seventh in steals (194), fifth in three-point percentage (.356) and third in games played (132) at USF. Her 44 points vs. Coppin State in 2008 stand as the Bulls’ single-game scoring record and she posted two of the top 10 scoring seasons and three of the top 10 assist seasons in program history. Grace went on to play professionally in Poland and is now the head basketball coach at Booker High School in Sarasota.
Sara Nevins • Softball
The second student-athlete from the softball program to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, joining Monica Triner (Class of 2011), Nevins was a three-time All-America selection, earning second-team honors in 2012 and third-team selection in 2013 and 2014. A four-time All-Region selection and four-time all-conference selection (earning first-team honors twice in the BIG EAST and once in The American), Nevins was named the 2014 American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year and was the Bulls’ ace on the mound during the team’s run to the 2012 College World Series, recording a program record 336 strikeouts that season. A three-time team MVP, Nevins finished her career as the program’s all-time leader in victories (101), saves (20), innings pitched (844.1), strikeouts (1,103), strikeouts per seven innings (9.14), opponent batting average (.170), appearances (190) and tied for games started (109). She pitched two of the three perfect games recorded in program history and nine no-hitters, recording eight solo. Nevins was a member of the USA Women’s National Team from 2013-15 and won two World Cup gold medals (2014 & 2015), a World Cup silver medal (2013), Pan American Games silver medal (2015) and ISF World Championships silver medal (2014).
George Selvie • Football
The third student-athlete from the football program to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, joining Anthony Henry (Class of 2011) and Marquel Blackwell (Class of 2013), Selvie is the only two-time, first-team All-America selection (2007 & 2008) in program history. A consensus first-team All-American in 2007, Selvie was an NCAA statistical champion recording 31.5 tackles for loss to lead all of FBS football. Named the 2007 BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year, 2007 Bill Willis Trophy winner and a finalist for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy and the Ted Hendricks Award, the defensive end set program records for tackles for loss (31.5) and sacks (14.5) in 2007 as the Bulls defeated No. 13 Auburn and No. 5 West Virginia to rise to the program’s highest ever national ranking of No. 2. A three-time first team All-BIG EAST selection, Selvie led USF in sacks in 2007 and 2008 and stands as the program’s career leader in tackles for loss (69.5), sacks (29), forced fumbles (9) and starts (50). Selvie is second in fumble recoveries (6) and games played (51), and holds game records for tackles for loss (6) and sacks (4). A four-year starter, he helped lead USF to four straight bowl games and two bowl victories before being selected in the seventh round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the St. Louis Rams. He went on to play six seasons in the NFL, recording 143 tackles, 14.0 sacks, four fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles in stints with the Giants, Cowboys, Buccaneers, Jaguars, Panthers and Rams.

USF Athletics sponsors 19 varsity men’s and women’s teams that compete in 11 different sports, 18 at the NCAA Division I level in the American Athletic Conference. The Bulls’ athletic program began in 1965 and is in its 53rd season in 2018-19.
