Three Bulls Earn Academic All-District Honors

TAMPA, FLA., May 24, 2023 – Three members of the USF women’s golf team, Juliana Camargo, Lauren Heinlein, and Leonor Medeiros have been named to the 2023 Academic All-District® Women’s At-Large Team as selected by College Sports Communicators.
 
To be eligible for the honor, players must have a 3.50 GPA or higher and play in 50 percent or more of the team’s contests. Freshmen are not eligible.
 
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced June 22.
 
Sophomore Camargo (Bogata, Columbia) had her best season as a Bull with a scoring average of 73.66. Camargo posted three Top 10 finishes.

Heinlein (Ocala, Fla), a graduate student, posted three Top 10 finishes and recorded the Bulls’ second-best scoring average, 73.09. Heinlein was second on the team with 15 rounds of par or better and six rounds in the 60’s.

A sophomore, Medeiros (Palmela, Portugal) recorded her best season at USF with a scoring average of 74.03. Medeiros posted her first Top 10 finish in leading the Bulls to a fourth-place finish at the Chattanooga Classic.

The Bulls are in their sixth season under head coach Erika Brennan in 2022-23. USF is among the fastest rising programs in the country, as they climbed 75 spots in the national Golfstat rankings following Brennan’s first season in 2018-19 and have captured three tournament titles under Brennan, while setting numerous program scoring records under her leadership. Junior standout Melanie Green has been an all-conference performer in each of her first two seasons, reached the 2022 NCAA Regionals as an individual and competed in both the U.S. Women’s Open and U.S. Women’s Amateur championships.
