The Power of a Mother’s Love

“ME” Monday® 5-11-2020

How did you spend yesterday with your mom?

Did you get to experience a virtual visit? If you are also a mom yourself, what special memories did you create with your kids?

If you are like me, your kids are grown and on their own. My boys and their wives always find ways to let me know they are thinking of me. We live long distances from each other so it can be tough to get together. For my birthday, they planned a ‘quality time with mom’ birthday trip that got canceled by this pandemic. Now it is almost Mother’s Day and already I am receiving gifts special delivery and we are coordinating video calls!

Some of us are celebrating the moms we no longer have with us. Some of us may be sharing the moms of those we hold close to our hearts. No matter who you are celebrating with, please share a post about how you chose to make Mother’s Day special!

If you honored someone else’s mom, how did you help them celebrate?

The power of a mother’s love can accomplish great things. As written in the biography of Thomas Edison, at seven years old his teacher “made no secret of his belief that the hyperactive youngster’s brains were “addled” or scrambled” (thomasedison.org). The teacher sent a letter home with Thomas to give to his mother informing her Thomas could no longer attend the school. His mother’s love and belief in her son led her to home school Thomas because she believed in his genius. Thomas Edison credits the power of his mother’s love for his success and certainly for all his contributions to world!

Many of us are steadfastly learning how to home school our own children because of the pandemic we are experiencing; however, could this be an opportunity for moms to cultivate their children’s potential?

Sometimes the things we cannot predict, things we may hope never occur, can offer opportunity for greatness!

So, let’s celebrate all moms and don’t limit your virtual visits to only Mother’s Day. Celebrate mom EVERYDAY! Everything she has done for you has contributed to who you are today!

Be sure to tell mom about “ME” Monday® so she can plan something special for herself every week! While you’re at it plan something special for yourself too because self-care also cultivates greatness!

Be safe. Be healthy. Be self-responsible. Be POWERFUL!

This is your now!
