The Moose Signs With Cincy: A Mike Moustakas Story!

By Damon Knight, Tribune Correspondent

The Cincinnati Reds have agreed to terms with free agent infielder Mike Moustakas. Moustakas, 31, signed a 4-year, $64M deal with the Reds after spending the previous two seasons in a Milwaukee Brewer uniform. He adds a big bat to a Reds lineup that had the fourth-fewest runs in the National League in 2019. His average of .254, with 35 home runs and 87 RBIs will likely go up given that Great American Ball Park is hitter-friendly ball-park. Those are pretty good numbers for a man they call the “Moose.” According to ESPN’s Buster Olney, Based on the Current roster, this is what the 2020 Red’s lineup could look like:

CF Nick Senzel

1B Joey Votto

3B Eugenio Suarez

2B Mike Moustakas

RF Aristides Aquino

LF Jesse Walker

C Barnhart/Casali

SS Freddy Galvis
According to larrybrownsports.com, “The Reds plan to use Moustakas at second base. They have an established star at third base in Eugenio Suarez, but the Reds won’t be paying Moustakas to come off the bence. He got some experience at second last season with the Brewers.”
