The Lions Get By The Saints

The Cadiac Cats of the Motor City made it a game when it looked like it didn’t need to be.
The defense for 1 quarter of the game was blowing up the Saints, whether it was a run or pass play. Causing back to back turnovers that lead to a quick 21 points on the board Sunday. The Lions had 21 points before the Saints even realized they had been on offense twice already.
The defense showed 3 or 4 different formations. Moving players around creatively. Then as quick as it looked fantastic. It all went away by the end of the first half.
Running base defense, pass rushing with just the Dline again. Costly 3rd down penalties which lead to scores by the Saints. It was hard to find a positive on defense after the first quarter for me.
Some people will tell you that it’s the players on the team. But if it can happen for a quarter where the Lions looked like a team that could beat anyone. That wind got pulled from the sails like when Lucy would pull the ball just as Charlie Brown reached it in the old Peanuts comic strip.
People can say we don’t have the personnel. I call a little bit of bull manure! Because for one quarter I saw the best defense ran in town.
No turnovers on the Lions Offense. 2 by the Saints early proved to be the catalyst for the win.
Now if our DC could call plays like the first quarter for an entire game. This team could make some noise in the post season. But if he cannot or won’t. It’s time for someone to take over the defensive playcalling. Because I saw players who could be thay type of defense.
