The Lions Continue To Have a Well Rounded Draft

By: Jeremy T. Ballreich

Brad Holmes continues to trade back and forth in Day 2 of the draft. Today seemed way more well-rounded to making a good team going into the season. By addressing needs on both sides of the ball. It looks like Detroit is a clear Day 2 winner.

With the 34th pick, they took receiving TE Sam Laporte of Iowa. Then traded up 3 spots to grab the best Safety in the draft in Brian Branch of Alabama. Traded back twice to the beginning of the 3rd round and got their now Back Up QB and possible successor in Hendon Hooker of Tennessee. Then moved back to pick 96 to grab the monstrous sized DT Brodric Martin of Western Kentucky.

Overall I gave this draft an A- grade so far. Addressing the most glaring needs so far. With only 2 picks left. I expect more moves again on Day 3. Pick 159 and 249 is all the Lions have left.
