Tavin Lovan Named to NABC District 11 Second Team

BIRMINGHAM – Tavin Lovan has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) 2020-21 Division I All-District 11 Second Team. The teams were selected by NABC-member head coaches in NCAA Division I. 

“I’m pleased to see Tavin continue to get acknowledged for his outstanding junior campaign,” said head coach Andy Kennedy. “His evolution into an All-Conference performer was pivotal in our team’s 22-win season. “ 

Lovan finished his junior season averaging 12.2 points per game, recorded 19 double-figure scoring games, shot 54.2% from the floor and had a team-high 66 assists.  

Individually, Lovan posted a career-high 32 points and season-high 11 rebounds in UAB’s 86-74 victory over Rice on Jan. 23. For his efforts, he was named Conference USA Co-Player of the Week. The junior guard posted career-highs with eight assists and six steals in the Blazers’ 61-37 win at Charlotte on Jan. 15.  

Lovan is the first UAB player to be named to a NABC team since William Lee in 2016-17.
