Taravella Marching Band prepares for upcoming season

The Taravella Marching Trojans Band celebrated the end of band camp with a special performance for family and friends of the band. The performed a portion of their show called 2123.

Ashlyn Simianakis, a senior and a leader in the band’s Spirit Crew loves being a part of the band. She plays the clarinet. “I have made lifelong friends in this band. I still talk to former members who have graduated. Everyone in the band has each other’s back. This is a great organization,” she said.

Ben Vela, a drum major and bassoon player has a passion for the Marching Trojans. “I love to make beautiful music. I love to practice and perform music. I have many friends in the band,” said Vela.

Jaiyhir Blake, a tuba player and a leader of the tuba players is a senior and loves the band. “I have become a better leader in the band and I love being a part of the band. I love to play at football games and competitions,” said Blake.

Band Director Jonathan Cooper is proud of the Marching Trojans and the effort they have made in summer band camp. “They have worked hard and they are performing well. The band members are working well together,” he said.

The show 2123 depicts a world where humans have been taken over by artificial intelligence. It is about how humans resist and take their world back.

There are about 70 band members in the marching Trojans. They will perform at all home football games. They will participate in competitions starting in October. They will also perform at the Coral Springs Holiday Parade.

The Marching Trojans are supported by a dedicated group of band parents. Petrese Simianakis, the mother of Ashlyn is a leader of the band parents. “This a great program for students. It is a very positive culture. This is a good band program.”
