SWIM – Sharks Open Season in Dual Meet Against FAU

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern Men’s and Women’s Swim teams got back in the pool and competed against Florida Atlantic in a dual meet on Saturday morning after being postponed on Friday due to weather. The Sharks women’s team earned their first victory of the 2023-24 season, defeating the Owls 132-130, while the NSU men’s team battled FAU throughout the meet but was defeated 145-117.

How it Happened

(Women’s)

  • Emily Trieschmann (10:18.81), Hailey Williams (10:36.17), and Estelle Bauer (10:46.53) placed first, second, and third in the 1000 freestyle.
  • Trieschmann recorded her second of the dual in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:51.87. Rafaela Raurich (1:53.76) placed second, and Ilaria Murzilli (1:55.96) placed third.
  • Raurich tallied her first win of the dual, recording a time of 2:03.83, in the 200 butterfly.
  • Trieschmann (5:01.95), Murzilli (5:06.91), and Williams (5:10.24) took first, second, and third in the 500 freestyle.
  • Raurich recorded her second win of the dual, taking first in the 100 butterfly with a time of 56.69.
  • Emilia Ronningdal placed first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:06.58. May Lowy took third with a time of 2:10.33.
How it Happened

(Men’s)

  • Keith Peristeridis took the win in the 1000 freestyle, recording a time of 9:37.76. Aidan Pflieger placed third with a time of 10:02.20.
  • Inigo Marina added a victory in the 100 breast with a time of 54.79.
  • Gustav Henriksen recorded a win in the 200 back, finishing with a time of 1:52.94.
  • Marina tallied his second win of the dual, recording a time of 1:59.62, in the 200 breast.
  • Peristeridis (4:37.20) and Luca Alessandrini (4:38.46) placed first and second in the 500 freestyle.
  • Marina recorded his third win of the dual in the 200 IM with a time of 1:52.48. Henriksen placed second with a time of 1:55.32.
Coach's Corner

Head Coach Ben Hewitt – We did well. There were some areas that were better than expected and some where work is definitely needed. It was a challenging environment and we competed effectively enough. Proud the team rolled with the changes during the weekend and look forward to the next opportunity to compete.

Nova Southeastern Men’s and Women’s swimming will next be in the pool October 6th and 7th, competing in the TYR Fall Classic in Miami, FL.
