SWIM – Sharks Continue Strong Performance at NCAA Championships

GENEVA, OH. – The 2024 NCAA Swimming and Diving National Championships continued on Wednesday evening from the SPIRE Aquatic Center. The Sharks were headlined by Emily Trieschmann, who took home the national championship in the 1000 Freestyle by setting a new NCAA DII, SSC, and NSU record time. NSU had eight other podium finishers on day two, keeping the Women’s team in first and the Men’s team in sixth.

How it Happened

(Women’s)

  • Emily Trieschmann started the day off for the Sharks by capturing the national championship in the 1000 Freestyle. With her time of 9:38.98, Trieschmann set a new NCAA DII, SSC, and NSU record. Additionally, her first 500 split of 4:43.98 was a SSC and NSU record. Behind Trieschmann in second place was teammate Hailey Williams, who finished with a time of 9:50.07. Coming in fifth place, with a time of 9:58.97, was Estelle Bauer.
  • In the 200 Individual Medley, Emilia Ronningdal secured third place with a time of 1:59.70. Finishing in fifth was May Lowy with a time of 2:00.53.
  • The group of Mollie MorfeltHannah MontgomeryRafaela Raurich, and Maya Esparza took second in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:40.37.
How it Happened

(Men’s)

  • Luca Alessandrini placed fourth in the 1000 Freestyle with a time of 9:00.46. With his time, Alessandrini set a new NSU record. Coming in eighth in the 1000 Freestyle was Keith Peristeridis, who finished with a time of 9:08.16.
  • In the 50 Freestyle, Marcel Snitko finished in fifth. With his time of 19.60, Snitko set a new NSU record.
What's Next

The Sharks return to pool in Geneva, OH on March 14th for the third day of the NCAA Swimming and Diving National Championships. Events scheduled for day three include 100 Butterfly, 400 Individual Medley, 200 Freestyle, and 400 Medley Relay. Prelims begin at 10:00AM, followed by the finals at 5:30PM.
