Strauss Steps Up Again, Gives $500K to FAU Tennis

BOCA RATON, Fla. On July 15, 2021, Florida Atlantic University Athletics announced that local philanthropist Kimberly V. Strauss had made the largest gift in FAU Tennis history. Today, FAU Vice President and Director of Athletics Brian White announced that Strauss has once again made the largest gift ever to the FAU Tennis programs.

Strauss’ most recent generous support of FAU Tennis is a gift commitment of $500,000. With this gift, the FAU tennis facility will now be known as the Kimberly V. Strauss Tennis Center. The majority of the gift will go toward the addition of state-of-the-art lighting at the center, allowing for even more home competition and practice opportunities for FAU student-athletes.

“Once again, we cannot thank Kim Strauss enough for her incredible generosity and support of our tennis programs,” White said. “Her support of the Owls will transform virtually every one of the spaces that impact our tennis student-athletes and coaches. We cannot express enough gratitude for Kim’s recognition of the potential within these teams and her willingness to help us make transformational changes.”

“I am pleased to provide FAU tennis with this additional support, inspired by the outstanding talent and level of commitment, by both the teams and their coaches,” Strauss said. “It is my sincere pleasure to further promote the development of premium amenities and to advocate for the standard of excellence in FAU tennis programs. Both are well deserved.”

Her previous gift has already impacted the FAU men’s and women’s tennis programs in a very positive manner. Strauss’ first gift created the addition of the Kimberly V. Strauss Tennis Lounge and upgrades to the men’s and women’s tennis locker rooms.

“I cannot begin to describe the impact Kim Strauss and her generous support has made on FAU Tennis,” FAU Director of Tennis Ricardo Gonzalez said. “The new spaces created through her previous gift have created a great environment for our current student-athletes, as well as giving us an advantage in recruiting. With the addition of lighting at the complex, we’ll have greater flexibility for practice and competition, which will also positively impact numerous generations of FAU tennis student-athletes.”
The lighting project to complete the Kimberly V. Strauss Tennis Center is expected to be completed during the calendar year 2022.
