BOCA RATON, Fla. –
Lynn University head men’s basketball coach Jeff Price has announced the hiring of Darryl Stinson as the program’s new assistant coach. Stinson joins the Blue and White family following a three-year stint as men’s basketball head coach at NCAA Division II Paine College.

“I am thrilled to add a coach of Darryl’s experience to my staff,” Price stated. “His knowledge of the Division II culture should pay great dividends to our program and I look forward to working with him.”

Stinson has been in a coaching role at Paine for each of the past four seasons, serving as top assistant in 2015-16 before being promoted to head coach in 2016-17. While with Paine, Stinson’s squads showed measurable improvement each of his three years at the helm, garnering an improved record each season. Notably, Paine defeated 21st-ranked Morehouse to propel itself to the SIAC Semifinals in 2018-19. Stinson’s success extends from the court to the classroom where his Lions boasted a 3.2 team GPA.

“I first want to thank Head Coach Jeff Price and Athletic Director Devin Crosby for this great opportunity at Lynn University, and the ability to walk into such a great school and basketball program,” commented Stinson. “I’d also like to thank Selina Kohn, the staff, and administration over at Paine College for a great four years and wish them much success.”

Prior to coming to Paine, Stinson was an assistant coach at Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) rival, Claflin University in Orangeburg, S.C. While working with the Panthers, he helped coach the team to a 16-14 overall record, 12-7 conference record, and a berth into the SIAC men’s basketball tournament.

He started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Fla. During his tenure, the Wildcats won 32 games in two seasons and advanced to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championship in 2011-12. He helped coach four All-MEAC team players as including leading scorer, Adrian Coleman, in 2012-13.

Stinson spent his collegiate basketball career as a forward at Tiffin University in Tiffin, Ohio from 2006-10, serving as team captain from 2007-09.

Darryl is a 2011 graduate from Tiffin with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration and obtained his Master’s of Science in Transformative Leadership from Bethune-Cookman in 2013. Stinson grew up in Conyers, Ga. and attended Rockdale County High School.
