STATEMENT FROM MIAMI MARLINS CEO DEREK JETER

Unfortunately, we begin this week with news of yet another act of violence against an Asian American over this past weekend. Reports estimate that there have been nearly 4,000 occurrences of anti-Asian hate incidents in the United States over the past 12 months. These continued discriminatory, violent attacks against the Asian community are unacceptable. As we stated last year, we will not sit by and allow any form of racism to persist. There is no place for hate. Racially-targeted violence, crimes, or harassment of any kind cannot be tolerated in our society. We know that we can do better, and hope the day comes when we do not have to continually condemn hatred and harassment targeted toward any specific group. We join in the calling to Stop Asian Hate and will continue to work to build a unified and inclusive tomorrow for our communities.
