Souza Berti and Peevy add to the Lynn POW List

MELBOURNE, Fla. – It continues to be a showcase fall season for Lynn University athletics. The volleyball program has dominated the Sunshine State Conference standings and has the player of the week awards to prove it, and now the men’s basketball team in getting in on the action just two games into its season. For the fourth time, Biatriz Souza Berti has been named setter of the week and for the first time as a Fighting Knight, Christian Peevy has been named offensive player of the week.

Souza Berti had a stranglehold on the award for three-straight weeks, she lost that grip for a brief moment, but was quick to regain it. In a thrilling five-set win against Embry-Riddle, she posted a career-high 65 assists. It was the most by a Lynn player since 2002. To close out the week, she had 41 more assists in a three-set win over Florida Tech. Since moving into the primary setter’s role she has posted at least 30 assists in 17-straight matches.

In just his second game as a member of the Fighting Knights basketball program, and first SSC game, Peevy won offensive honors for his 29-point performance. It was safe to say he was in a zone, Peevy went 10-for-11 from the floor and 9-for-10 from the free-throw line. While it is an award for his offensive outing, Peevy was far from a one-dimensional player. He pulled down seven rebounds, five on the defensive end, and blocked two shots against Embry-Riddle.
