South Florida comedy site ApplauseBreak.com Officially Launches

ApplauseBreak.com, a website dedicated to the coverage of local South Florida Comedy, launches with coverage of local and national stand-up comics, comedy shows and features.

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. – There’s an underrated, underreported, largely underground comedy scene in South Florida, and now there’s a website – ApplauseBreak.com – dedicated to bringing all the punchlines, performances and behind-the-scenes antics to local fans.

Monday’s official launch of ApplauseBreak.com further emphasizes that the South Florida comedy scene, particularly in Palm Beach County, is currently as strong as any locale in the country.

“The comedy culture in South Florida – especially Boca Raton, Delray Beach and West Palm Beach – continues to expand, creating one of the nation’s hottest scenes,” said co-founder Chuck King, a veteran South Florida journalist, photographer and multimedia producer. “We figured it’s about time more people experienced and enjoyed the current movement. ApplauseBreak.com is uniquely situated to highlight local comedy news, features and multimedia to a rapidly growing audience.”

South Florida entertainment isn’t limited to Miami. ApplauseBreak.com fills what has been a journalistic void by accentuating the humorous people, routines, sketches and other forms of entertainment that is so abundant in Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast but rarely receives the attention it’s earned.

It’s no coincidence that the Palm Beach County comedy scene jumped to the next level over the past year despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

In recent months comedy heavy-hitters Bret Ernst, Jimmy Shubert, Flip Schultz, Dean Napolitano and Greg Hahn – all formerly west coasters or New Yorkers – spent significant time in South Florida because comedy hubs Los Angeles and New York were locked down.

While it’s not surprising to see those names headlining established theaters, they also performed at local venues not normally considered comedy clubs, and also for private audiences.

The founders of ApplauseBreak.com have been in attendance – and in some cases performed alongside the headliners – for nearly all of those performances.

“I’m excited and eager to be part of a platform for new comics, established comics and comedy fans,” said rising local comic Nadeem Awad. “ApplauseBreak.com will be the source for everything comedy related.”

Those national performers encounter a group of young South Florida comics thriving in a suddenly vibrant scene.

“There’s so much talent already here and more of the top comics in the nation are heading to South Florida everyday because it’s open for business,” said comic/promoter David Sadman, founder of Sadman Comedy Productions. “ApplauseBreak.com will be here to document the scene, playing a vital role as the South Florida comedy landscape continues to grow.”

ApplauseBreak.com‘s event calendar will keep comedy fans abreast of the latest bookings, providing a one-stop listing for comedy shows in South Florida.

In the coming weeks ApplauseBreak.com will begin producing its own podcasts and videos, while also pointing readers to some of the best stand-up comedy podcasts created by local performers.

Applause Break’s goal is to help a community emerging from this pandemic find entertaining venues that sponsor top comedy shows. It will become the glue that binds the South Florida comedy community.
