Softball – Smith, Drogemuller Earn All-South Region Honors

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – More accolades come pouring in for the Nova Southeastern softball team less than 24 hours before the Sharks kick off postseason play at the NCAA South Region Tournament. Alexis Smith and Alyssa Drogemuller were recognized as All-South Region performers by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA). Both Smith and Drogemuller tabbed a spot on the All-South Region first team.

Smith adds another postseason accolade to go along with her All-SSC first-team selection. The senior has been the driving force for NSU, leading the Sharks in hits (75), runs (58), RBIs (46), home runs (5), doubles (13), stolen bases (36), and triples (14). Her 14 triples are a single-season NSU record, not to mention she also holds the NSU career triples record, with 17 career triples. The Tampa native currently ranks first in four major offensive categories in the SSC (Runs, RBIs, Triples, and Slugging Percentage). Smith also earned SSC Player of the Week four times this season and was named a member of the 2023 Tucci/NFCA Division II National Player and Pitcher of the Year Watchlist.

Drogemuller adds the latest accolade after capturing Second Team All-SSC honors earlier in the week. In 28 appearances in the circle, Drogemuller has made 19 starts en route to a record of 19-6, ranking her second in the SSC in wins. The junior posted an ERA of 1.86 and a WHIP of 1.04 across 161.2 innings and had 17 complete games – five of which have been shutouts. Offensively, she finished the regular season with a .354 batting average, which ranked third on the team, to go along with 24 RBIs, 46 hits, and 45 runs scored.
