Skip Barber Racing School Named ‘Preferred Racing School of IMSA’

The Famous Training Ground for Drivers Forms a Partnership with IMSA

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (May 14, 2021) – Many IMSA drivers past and present honed their blossoming racing skills at the Skip Barber Racing School, such as Andy Lally, AJ Allmendinger and Juan Pablo Montoya. That longstanding informal relationship became official today with announcement of a partnership that has the Skip Barber Racing School named the “Preferred Racing School of IMSA.”
The multiyear agreement cements the Skip Barber Racing School within the IMSA ecosystem, reaching IMSA’s fan base of performance auto enthusiasts and helping them take their passion onto the track. From defensive driving schools for teens and adults, corporate events, and high-performance driving schools, to racing schools that serve as the first step on the development ladder for aspiring racers who want to reach the various IMSA-sanctioned series, Skip Barber Racing School has helped more than 350,000 people improve their driving skills.
“Skip Barber Racing School has earned a reputation for providing a vital first step to so many racing drivers who, over the years, have gone on to achieve the pinnacle of success in our sport,” said IMSA President John Doonan. “IMSA is proud to officially partner with Skip Barber Racing School with an eye toward developing a new generation of sports car driving talent. We also will work together with the Skip Barber team to provide ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunities through the school’s other experiential programs available to IMSA partners and enthusiasts.”
The Skip Barber Racing School, founded by John “Skip” Barber in 1975, conducts events across the U.S. including many IMSA tracks – WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, Lime Rock Park, Sebring International Raceway, and Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. In addition to providing IMSA’s fan base with the opportunity to drive and learn on some of the most iconic tracks in the country, Skip Barber Racing School’s corporate events will become a part of IMSA’s business-to-business initiatives.
“We are proud to become the Preferred Racing School of IMSA and believe that this partnership aligns perfectly with the high-performance prestige of both organizations,” said Dan DeMonte, Chief Marketing Officer for Skip Barber Racing. “With ever-expanding programs and competition opportunities, we offer something for everyone, from beginner enthusiasts to seasoned pro-racers, and we are thrilled to share them on the national stage with IMSA.”
In addition to its status as the Preferred Racing School of IMSA, the Skip Barber Racing School will have a broad reaching presence at-track, and across IMSA’s digital and social media platforms – addressing several consumer-facing, as well as B2B objectives.
At-track, Skip Barber Racing Schools will engage with fans via Car Corrals and consumer expo areas, as well as the IMSA Hot Lap Experience – providing VIP guests with a high-speed lap of the track alongside a professional driver.
In addition, Skip Barber Racing School instructors will help support IMSA’s Safety Car program at select events.  Away from the track, Skip Barber Racing Schools will reach IMSA fans, as well as IMSA’s industry stakeholders, including its 16 corporate partners and 18 automotive manufacturer partners through a presence across IMSA.com and custom content across IMSA Social channels.
