Six American Volleyball Teams Earn Bids to Compete in NIVC

IRVING, Texas – Six American Athletic Conference volleyball teams were selected to participate in the 2023 National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC) as, East Carolina, Florida Atlantic, North Texas, South Florida, Tulsa and Wichita State all earned bids.

The American led all conference with six selections.

Wichita State (21-8), one of the two automatic qualifying teams for The American, will serve as a host site for the first and second rounds.  The Shockers will take on Arkansas State (16-14) on Thursday, November 30 at 7 p.m. ET.  The winner will play the winner of fellow American school Tulsa (17-14) and Kansas City (22-8) on Friday, December 1 at 2:30 p.m. ET.

South Florida (19-11), the American East Division Champions and second automatic qualifier, will travel to Queens, New York to take on Buffalo (23-8) on Friday, December 1 at 4 p.m. ET. The winner will play the winner of host St. John’s (23-10) and Howard (17-14) on Saturday, December 2 at 5 p.m. ET.

East Carolina (20-10) will serve as a host site and will take on The Citadel (27-3) on Friday, December 1 at 6 p.m. ET. The winner will play the winner of Georgie Southern (21-8) and Winthrop (14-13) on Saturday, December 2 at 6 p.m. ET.

North Texas (17-15) and Florida Atlantic (20-12) will both travel to El Paso, Texas to compete in the same quad. North Texas will take on host UTEP (21-9) on Friday, December 1 at 9:30 p.m. ET, while Florida Atlantic will take on UT Arlington (20-10)  at 7 p.m. ET that same day. The winners will face off on Saturday, December 2 at 4 p.m. ET.
