Sharks Baseball Names Radziewski as Pitching Coach

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Former Miami Hurricanes pitcher and MLB draftee Bryan Radziewski has been named the pitching coach for Nova Southeastern Sharks baseball, head coach Laz Guitierrez announced on Monday.

“We’re excited to add Bryan Radziewski as our pitching coach,” Gutierrez said. “Bryan’s approach is aligned with the ideals that we value as a program. His enthusiasm for teaching and leading young men is genuine. He has a good understanding for the mechanics of the delivery and the art of pitching. He played and succeeded at a very high level as a collegiate and professional athlete and that journey will lend itself as an exceptional teaching tool.”

Radziewski comes to the Sharks from La Salle University in Philadelphia, where he was the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator for the Explorers – an effort that produced a nationally-ranked 2020 class that topped the Atlantic 10 Conference rankings. His pitching staff delivered the program’s second best strikeout to walk ratio in program history, as well as reaching the best ERA and WHIP since 2015 and 2012, respectively.

Prior to La Salle, Radziewski spent one season in the same roles at Fairleigh Dickinson in New Jersey, helping the Knights to increase their conference win total by eight games in one season.

“I am beyond blessed to be joining such a proud and successful program here at Nova Southeastern,” Radziewski said. “I am excited to help guide the lives of the student-athletes, both in the classroom and on the field. I look forward to working closely with Laz and the wealth of knowledge he brings to the game of baseball. It is my goal to help bring another championship to this great university and this amazing community here in south Florida.”

Before making the move into the coaching world, Radziewski played three seasons in the Houston Astros organization after his selection as a ninth-round pick out of the University of Miami in the 2014 MLB Draft. A left-handed pitcher for the Hurricanes, he was a two-time All-American, was named First Team All-Region and was twice named All-ACC, delivering a 28-7 record and 2.63 career ERA while racking up 333 strikeouts from 2011-2014.

Radziewski was initially selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2013 MLB Draft after a dominant redshirt sophomore season in which he went 9-3 with a 1.78 ERA and 109 strikeouts. Returning to Miami for his redshirt junior season, he produced an 8-2 record with a 2.86 ERA and 111 strikeouts.

During his time in the minors, Radziewski played in the New York Penn League, the Midwest League and the California League, most recently playing for the Lancaster JetHawks. He appeared in 38 games in the minors, including 18 starts, tallying a 3.39 ERA and 126 strikeouts over 132.2 innings pitched.

Radziewski earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology with a minor in Sports Management from Miami in 2016.
