DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Along with another scoring race from Ivanova Yanes, Jaylynne Thomas and Spencer Ochko paced the Nova Southeastern women’s and men’s track and field on the final day of competition at the Peach Belt Conference Championships on Saturday at the Embry-Riddle Track Complex. Both Sharks teams closed the meet with a sixth-place finish.

FIELD EVENTS
Senior Spencer Ochko provided the top performance for the Shark throwers on the final day, earning the bronze medal in the men’s discus with a 39.44m (129-4) toss. On the women’s side, senior Jaylynne Thomas threw 11.36m (37-3.25) to finish fourth in the shot put. Late in the day, Thomas added her third score of the meet, finishing with a new career high of 37.37m (122-7) in the discus to add another fourth-place performance.
In the jumps, senior Eileen Platten logged a score with a seventh-place 9.76m (32-0) in the women’s triple jump.
RUNNING EVENTS
Just 12 hours after claiming the 10k title in her first go-around with the race, Ivanova Yanes added a fifth-place finish in the 5,000m, chopping 28 seconds off her previous best to run an 18:19.70.
RELAY EVENTS
Closing out the overall competition, the NSU team of Christina Adams, Tessa Grotzinger, Ellyn Willse and Yanes finished sixth in the 4x400m relay with a combined time of 4:30.92.
FINAL SCORES
The women’s team ended the competition in a tie for sixth place with Augusta on 36 points. The men’s team logged 17 points for a sixth-place finish. Justin Jackson and Carly Rothert earned spots on the All-Sportsmanship Team for the PBC.
