SECOND-ROUND OL JAWAAN TAYLOR SIGNS NFL CONTRACT

May 9, 2019

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed 2019 second-round draft pick OL Jawaan Taylor to his NFL rookie contract, the club announced today.

“It’s the best feeling of all time,” Taylor said. “I’ve been dreaming this since I was a kid … Definitely hats off to all the people who helped me through this process. It’s a major blessing for me.”

With the 35th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Jaguars selected Taylor from the University of Florida. Taylor, 6-5, 312, started 35 of 37 career games in three seasons for the Gators.  As a junior in 2018, he appeared in all 13 games and started 12 at right tackle, as Florida’s offensive line allowed just 18 sacks over the course of the entire season. Taylor earned second-team All-SEC honors and was named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll in his final season.  In 2017, he started all 11 games, the first nine at right tackle and the final two at left tackle. As a freshman, Taylor garnered freshmen All-America honors by ESPN.com, FWAA and Pro Football Focus.

Originally from Cocoa, Fla., Taylor attended Cocoa High School.  He can be found on Twitter at @jawaan_taylor74. He will wear No. 75 this season.

Taylor is the fifth of the team’s seven 2019 draft selections under contract.
