Scholarship Award is Highlight of Thursday’s Practice

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Classes have begun, practice is well underway, and the Florida Atlantic University football team has begun to settle into a routine. Prior to the team’s dismissal Thursday morning, celebrations rang out as redshirt freshman long snapper Nick Marino was awarded a scholarship, essentially paying for the classes he would leave the field to attend.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Coach Taggart signaled for the players to position themselves in an effort to yell and heckle the kicker during his practice-ending long field goal attempt. Marino addressed the ball for the snap only to read a printed message which read “Congratulations you are now on scholarship.” The field goal was never attempted as the celebration began.
