SB: South Florida Falls to Wichita State



WICHITA, KS, April 1, 2023 – The University of South Florida softball team (22-17, 3-2 AAC) fell to the Wichita State Shockers (29-7, 4-1 AAC), 14-0, on Saturday afternoon in five innings.    

Left-hander Lexie Kopko (Stewartstown, Pa.) earned her second start of the season for the second game of the series. She pitched two innings.  

Freshman Morgan Grubb (Bartow) relieved Kopko and pitched 1.2 innings. In her 15th appearance this season, she allowed five runs.  

In the fourth inning and with two outs, senior Vivian Ponn (Fort Myers) made her sixth appearance in the circle. She had the only strike out for South Florida.  

Jordyn Kadlub (Wesley Chapel) led the Bulls with two hits. She led the game off with a bunt single and then a double in the third inning. Marissa Trivelpiece (Sugarloaf, Pa.) and Camille Ortiz-Martinez (Ponce, Puerto Rico) also got a hit in the game. Trivelpiece hit her 11th double of the season.

The Bulls will close out the series with Wichita State tomorrow at 12 p.m. (CT)/1 p.m. (ET).
