BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic softball clinched yet another American Athletic Conference series with an 8-0 victory over UTSA, on Saturday afternoon.

With the win the Owls moved to 35-12 overall and to 15-5 in AAC play. The 35 wins matches the Owls win total from a year ago and all with seven regular season contests to play. UTSA falls to 12-36 overall and to 3-17 in the AAC.

The Owls scored two in the bottom of the first, one in the second and one in the third. They would put together a big four-run sixth inning, highlighted by Kylie Hammonds’ first collegiate homer, for the 8-0 final.

Trinity Schlotterbeck started in the circle for the Owls, tossing her eighth shutout of the season. It was also her fourth complete game en route to her 15th win of the season. Schlotterbeck now holds a 15-4 record as an Owl. She retired 15 of the last 17 batters she faced.

NOTES/NOTABLEE

  • Three Owls had a multi- hit games led by Presley Leebrick who was 2-for-2 with two runs scored, two walks and a RBI
  • The trio of Jesiana MoraKamryn Jackson and Schlotterbeck were each 2-for-3 on the day with Mora driving in two runs and Jackson three.
  • Hammonds had the homer and Schlotterbeck recorded her eighth double

NEXT UP

The two teams will return to FAU Stadium and Joan Joyce field where the Owls will look to close out the three-game AAC series on Sunday at 12 p.m. The game will also air on ESPN+.
