SB | Owls Take Game Two of the Series

TAMPA, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic softball team took game two of the series against South Florida on Saturday evening with a 10-8 victory to tie the three-game stand.

With the win, the Owls move to 37-13 overall and 17-6 in the American Athletic Conference.

THE GAME

The Owls started off early in the game with four runs in the first inning. Designated player Trinity Schlotterbeck hit a two-RBI double to centerfield to give Florida Atlantic the lead early. Back-to-back runs were posted for the Owls as Kamryn Jackson scored and Katelynn de Leon hit an RBI single to right center to extend the lead. Schlotterbeck hit a two-run homer to right center as the Owls totaled six runs through the third inning.

In the bottom of the third, the Bulls scored four runs to cut the lead. Florida Atlantic answered back in the fourth, and Jackson hit a two-RBI double to left center to extend that lead again. With an RBI sacrifice fly by shortstop Kiley Channell to score Jesiana Mora. South Florida scored a run in the bottom of the fourth and fifth. In the top of the seventh, outfielder Presley Leebrick hit an RBI sacrifice fly of her own to center that brought in the 10th run of the night.

Junior Gabby Sacco started in the circle for the Owls and registered her 11th win of the season, and she improved her record to 11-3. Ainsley Lambert went into the circle to pitch in the fourth inning. She faced 23 batters on the night and registered her seventh save of the season. Lambert is ranked No. 1 in the conference and No. 7 in the nation in saves.
