SB: Eriksen Grows Signing Class by One

TAMPA, FLA. May 26, 2023 – Head softball coach, Ken Eriksen, announced that Belle Sardja (Tampa) has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her collegiate career at the University of South Florida.

Sardja is currently pitching at the Junior College World Series as her Florida Southwestern State College Buccaneers vie to defend their 2022 National Championship. Sardja, an Academy of Holy Names graduate, led her high school team to the State Championship in 2021.

“We know that we are getting an incredible person that knows how to WIN,” Eriksen said. “Belle’s tenacity and her ability to “paint” a great game from the mound is impressive to me. Sardja definitely compliments our returning pitcher and our incoming freshmen pitcher”.

Sardja goes into this week’s Junior College World Series with a 38-5 career record while posting the top earned run average of any Buccaneer pitcher in program history with a 1.02 mark through 267 innings pitched. She is 22-2 this season with an ERA of 0.81 while posting a 112-21 strike-out-to-walk ratio. Sardja was named the Southern Conference and FCSAA State Pitcher of the Year this past month.

Eriksen added, “Our consistency in attacking the hitters and the strike zone has just gotten better. I feel we are back on track for that deep run into the NCAA postseason again next year. I haven’t felt this good in a while.”
