Sankoh and Hagberg Deliver In Crunch Time for Women’s Soccer in Late Victory over FNU

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn University’s women’s soccer team looked like its senior night might be ruined by an aggressive Florida National squad, but late goals from Anniina Sankoh and Crystal Ayn Hagberg propelled the Fighting Knights to a 2-1 win on Saturday night.

STATS OF THE GAME:

·         FNU scored on a shot from distance off of a free kick to take a 1-0 lead in the 57th minute.

·         With its back against the wall, Lynn answered in a major way in the 74th minute, as a corner from Hagberg found Sankoh’s foot in the box and she fired a thunderous, right-footed volley past the FNU goalie.

·         Hagberg got in on the scoring action in the waning moments as she slotted a curling, free kick into the ‘upper 90’ to cement the win for the Blue and White with just two and a half minutes to go.

·         Kiara Burga earned the victory, stopping two shots in 90:00.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

·         This is now Lynn’s third win in its last four matches and extends its undefeated streak to four in-a-row.

·         Six wins matches the most for the program since 2017. A win on Tuesday, Nov. 5 in the squad’s final match vs. Florida Tech would mean the most wins for the program since 2011.
