DALLAS – The Florida Atlantic beach volleyball team finished the 2024 season strong, earning six Conference USA postseason accolades, including three first team all-conference nods, a second team all-conference selection, and a pair of all-freshman team honors, announced by the league office on Friday.
CUSA First Team All-Conference: Ashleigh Adams, Julie Honzovicova, and Marketa Svozilova
CUSA Second Team All-Conference: Courtney Moon
CUSA All-Freshman Team: Olivia Strandberg and Sloane Woolwine
Ashleigh Adams received CUSA First Team All-Conference honors after producing a team season-leading and career-best 23-12 record, including a season-best 12-5 record on court two, and going 6-4 on court one and 5-3 on court three. Adams produced a season-best pair record of 13-7 teaming up with Julie Honzovicova. The duo went 6-4 on court one for the Sandy Owls, including earning a win over No. 3-seed Tulane during the CUSA Championship semifinals, and going 4-2 on court three and 3-1 on court two. Adams earned ranked wins this season over No. 12 Georgia State, No. 17 South Carolina, No. 18 Arizona State, No. 2 UCLA, No. 6 Cal, No. 20 Texas A&M – Corpus Christi, No. 10 LMU, and No. 14 FIU. She was named CUSA Pair of the Week with Honzovicova on April 3, 2024, after earning two of the biggest wins of her career against No. 2 UCLA and No. 6 Cal at the Death Volley Invitational. She was also named to the 2024 CUSA All-Academic Team.
Julie Honzovicova finished second on the team with a 22-14 record this season, including a season-best 11-6 record on court three, as well as going 6-4 on court one, 4-3 on court two, and 1-1 on court four. Honzovicova produced a season-best pair record of 13-7 alongside Ashleigh Adams. The duo went 6-4 on court one for the Sandy Owls, including earning a win over No. 3-seed Tulane during the CUSA Championship semifinals, and going 4-2 on court three and 3-1 on court two. Honzovicova earned ranked wins over No. 12 Georgia State, No. 17 South Carolina, No. 16 Georgia State, No. 5 TCU, No. 2 UCLA, No. 6 Cal, No. 20 Texas A&M – Corpus Christi, No. 10 LMU, and No. 14 FIU. Marketa Svozilova produced a 18-17 record in 2024, including a season-best 11-12 record on court one and a 7-5 record on court two. Svozilova produced a team season-best pair record of 15-10 alongside Courtney Moon, including going 2-1 during the 2024 CUSA Championship. The duo produced a team season-best 10-8 record on court one and a 4-2 record on court two. Svozilova tallied ranked wins against No. 12 Georgia State, No. 17 South Carolina, No. 16 Stetson, and No. 14 FIU.
Courtney Moon finished third on the Sandy Owls with a 21-15 record, including a season-best 10-8 record on court one, while also going 7-3 on court two, 2-4 on court three, and a perfect 2-0 on court four. Moon produced a team season-best pair record of 15-10 teaming up with Marketa Svozilova, including going 2-1 during the 2024 CUSA Championship. The duo produced a team season-best 10-8 record on court one and went 4-2 on court two. Courtney secured ranked victories against No. 12 Georgia State, No. 17 South Carolina, No. 16 Stetson, and No. 14 FIU.
Olivia Strandberg ranked eighth on the team with a 14-17 record this season, including an 8-7 mark on court four, in addition to finishing 6-8 on court five. Strandberg produced a team third-best 12-9 pair record this season with Mikayla Law-Heese. The duo produced a season-best 7-4 record on court four, in addition to going 5-4 on court five. Strandberg notched ranked wins against No. 17 South Carolina, No. 18 Arizona State, and No. 5 TCU.
Sloane Woolwine went 11-21 during her first season as a Sandy Owl, producing a season-best 6-10 record on court two, in addition to going 2-5 on court one, 2-1 on court five, and 1-3 on court three. Woolwine produced a season-best 5-5 pair record with Ashleigh Adams, going 4-4 on court two and 1-1 on court three. She earned ranked wins against No. 12 Georgia State, No. 17 South Carolina, No. 18 Arizona State, and No. 14 FIU.
