Salvato joins Owls as assistant coach

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic volleyball head coach Fernanda Nelson announces the addition of Brooke Salvato as an assistant coach on Friday.

“We are very excited to welcome Brooke to our staff,” expressed Nelson. “She is very passionate and hard working. I’ve known Brooke for many years and have had the pleasure to work with her in the past. We are very blessed to have her with us. She will be a great addition to our FAU program and family!”

Salvato joins the Owls after serving as the head coach, assistant coach, and social media coordinator for Boomers Volleyball Academy, as well as the head varsity and junior varsity coach at Saint Joan of Arc Catholic School.

She has been working with Boomers Volleyball Academy since November 2019. Salvato has helped train young athletes ages 12-18 by creating detailed practice plans, running high-intensity practices, traveling with the team to compete against other high-level clubs, ascertain student-athletes needs and develop plans to help them succeed, as well as delegate tasks and keep detailed records of each match. With Saint Joan of Arc Catholic School, Salvato has served as the varsity and junior varsity coach since June 2019. Salvato helped lead the varsity team to a second-place district finish, in addition to helping run year-round clinics to develop athletes at Saint Joan of Arc.

Prior to working with Boomers and Saint Joan of Arc, Salvato served as the junior varsity head coach at her alma mater, Saint John Paul II Academy. Salvato created detailed practice plans to run daily practices and kept records of statistics for the junior varsity program.

Before taking over as head coach of the junior varsity program, Salvato began her coaching career at John Paul II Academy in March 2018 as an assistant varsity coach. She helped develop detailed practice plans, compiled and submitted team records and awards throughout the year, and oversaw preseason camps and events.

“I am absolutely thrilled for the opportunity to work with the FAU volleyball program,” expressed Salvato. “Coach Fay has decades of experience and so much passion for the sport. I am excited to learn from her and am so thankful to her for this opportunity. It’s a blessing to be able to join FAU athletics at such an exciting time. After years of coaching at the middle school, high school and club levels, it is surreal to now be a part of a reputable collegiate program with such great people. Thank you to Coach Fay and Coach Chuck for welcoming me with open arms and making me feel like family!”

A native of Delray Beach, Florida, Salvato graduated from Saint John Paul II Academy in May 2018.
