BOCA RATON, Fla. – Another honor has been bestowed upon Florida Atlantic University softball’s sophomore standout Gabby Sacco. Sacco was selected as an NFCA All-Region honoree, as announced by the organization on Thursday.
The Owls’ pitching ace was chosen as a Third Team All-South Region selection, which marks the first player from FAU to earn all-Region honors since the 2019 season.
SACCO THE SENSATION
Sacco was expected to step into a bigger role heading into her sophomore season. She did exactly that, and then some. The sophomore right-hander became Florida Atlantic’s undisputed ace and pitched to a 19-8 record with a 1.61 ERA. She ranked second in C-USA and 29th in NCAA Division I in victories, while additionally ranking third in C-USA and 36th in the nation in earned run average.
The Owls’ workhorse led FAU in nearly every pitching category, including wins, ERA, complete games (16), shutouts (six), innings pitched (169.1) and strikeouts (96). Remarkably, Sacco allowed two earned runs or less in 17 starts this season.
Sacco adds another honor to her collection, as she was also named Conference USA Pitcher of the Year and All-C-USA First Team earlier this month.
