BOCA RATON, Fla. – “Winning in Paradise” holds multiple meanings and describes so much for Florida Atlantic University athletics, but nothing more so than the student-athletes’ success in the classroom.
“The student-athlete competitiveness, in the classroom, on the courts, and fields of play is second to none,” said Brian White, FAU’s vice president and director of athletics. “Our continued academic success is a direct result of the work of our student-athletes, our academic staff and the prioritization of academic success by our coaches, not only on the recruiting trail, but in our daily culture as well.”
NOTABLE
- This marks the 16th-consecutive semester that the Owls have posted a departmental GPA above a 3.0 (3.273)
- In 2022-23, the Owls recorded above a 3.0 GPA for the eighth-consecutive year
- 70 student-athletes graduated in 2022-23
- 298-of-415 student-athletes (71.9%) earned a spring semester GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Collectively, both the men’s and women’s teams earned a 3.0 or better
- The men’s teams posted their highest GPA in program history, and it is the first time the men have collectively recorded above a 3.0 GPA
- For the first time, more males were on the 3.0 list than females (153/145)
- Every women’s team posted above a 3.285 GPA, with women’s golf posting a 3.752
- Men’s soccer led the way with a 3.487 GPA and six men’s teams were above a 3.0 GPA
- A total of 48 student-athletes earned a spot on the President’s List, recording a 4.0 GPA while taking a full class load, 32 women and 16 men
- 87.3% of the female student-athletes earned above a 3.0 GPA
- Collectively, 61.4% of the Florida Atlantic student-athlete population recorded a 3.0 or higher GPA, which is the highest spring total in three years and second highest spring GPA since a 3.0 spring GPA was achieved
