Rourke and Geiger register strong performances at the SEC Preview

The Gators men’s and women’s teams placed second at the SEC Preview.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Gators men’s and women’s cross country teams faced their first conference opponent of the season on Friday at the SEC Preview, coming away with two second place finishes.

The men’s team placed second collecting 37 points.  Ethan Geiger was the top finisher, placing third with a time of 24:08.2, a personal best in the 8k. Orlando Cicilioni, Jonathan Pitchford, Eoin McNally and Aiden Vilasuso also ran personal best times in the 8k.

The women’s team placed second, collecting 15 points. Lucinda Rourke was the first Gator to cross the line, running a 20:56.0 in the 6k. It was her first collegiate race as a Gator. Kathryn Nohilly, Emma Solis and Olivia Jones also ran personal best times in the 6k event.

A total of nine Gators ran personal best times bringing the season total to 24 personal best times.

Up next, the Gators travel to Tampa, Florida on October 14 for the USF XC Invite and to College Station, Texas on October 15 for the Arturo Barrios Invite.
