Miami Dolphins make roster moves

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins announced they have elevated tight end Chris Myarick and defensive end Tyshun Render as COVID-19 replacements for Sunday’s game. The team also elevated running back Elijah McGuire for tomorrow’s contest and placed running back Myles Gaskin on the reserve/COVID-19* list.

Myarick made his NFL debut in Week 10 vs. the L.A. Chargers but did not record any statistics. He has spent each of the past two seasons on Miami’s practice squad after entering the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with the Dolphins on May 9, 2019. Myarick was a four-year letterman (2015-18) and two-year starter at Temple.

Render made his NFL debut in Week 5 at San Francisco but did not record any statistics. He’s spent the entire season on Miami’s practice squad after entering the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with the Dolphins on April 29, 2020. He was a four-year letterman (2016-19) and one-year starter at Middle Tennessee State, where he played in all 51 games in his career.

McGuire joined the Dolphins practice squad on Dec. 9, 2020. He’s played in 24 NFL games with five starts over two seasons (2017-18) with the N.Y. Jets. In his career, McGuire has totaled 180 carries for 591 yards (3.3 avg.) and four touchdowns, along with 36 receptions for 370 yards (10.3 avg.) and two touchdowns. He originally entered the NFL as a sixth-round pick (188th overall) by the Jets in the 2017 NFL draft.

Gaskin has played in 14 career games with five starts, including eight games with six starts this season. During the 2020 campaign, Gaskin has totaled 121 carries for 477 yards (3.9 avg.) and two touchdowns. He’s also caught 32 passes for 249 yards (7.7 avg.). He originally entered the NFL as a seventh-round pick (234th overall) by Miami in the 2019 NFL draft after a standout career at Washington, where he left the school as the program’s all-time leading rusher (5,323 yards).

*This new reserve list category was created for a player who either tests positive for COVID-19 or who has been quarantined after having been in close contact with an infected person or persons. If a player falls into either of these categories, their club is required to immediately place the player on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Per agreed upon NFL-NFLPA policy, clubs are not permitted to comment on a player’s medical status other than referring to roster status. Clubs may not disclose whether a player is in quarantine or is positive for COVID-19.

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins announced they have placed cornerback Jamal Perry on the reserve/COVID-19* list.

Perry has played in 10 games with one start for the Dolphins this season, totaling 17 tackles (11 solo), one pass defensed and five special teams stops (two solo). He joined the Dolphins on Feb. 15, 2019 and has started seven games for the team over the past two seasons (2019-20). Perry originally entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with Philadelphia on May 11, 2017.

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins announced they have elevated safety Nate Holley to the active roster as a COVID-19 replacement for Sunday’s game.

Holley made his NFL debut last week. He was signed by the Dolphins on Aug. 22, 2020 and has spent most of the season on Miami’s practice squad. Holley was with the Calgary Stampeders in the Canadian Football League in 2019 and was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Rookie. He also spent time in The Spring League (2018) and the Indoor Football League (2018) after he was in training camp with the Los Angeles Rams in 2018. Holley was a four-year letterman (2013-16) and three-year starter at Kent State.

JAGUARS MAKE ROSTER MOVES

JACKSONVILLE The Jaguars have made the following roster moves, the club announced.

  • K Aldrick Rosas has been signed to the active roster from the team’s practice squad.
  • OL Tre’Vour Wallace-Simms (pronounced TREY-vore) and CB Quenton Meeks have been elevated to the active/inactive list for tomorrow’s game via standard practice squad elevation.

JAGUARS CLAIM DEFENSIVE TACKLE DANIEL ROSS VIA WAIVERS

JACKSONVILLE – The Jaguars have claimed DT Daniel Ross via waivers from the Las Vegas Raiders, the team announced. Ross will remain on the club’s Exempt/Commissioner Permission list as he goes through COVID-19 testing and screening protocols.

Ross initially signed as an undrafted free agent in 2017 with the Texans and spent his rookie season on the practice squads in Houston, Detroit, Kansas City and Dallas. He was activated and played in three games in 2017 and 13 games in 2018, both with the Cowboys, and tallied 19 tackles, including 2.0 sacks.

He spent last season on injured reserve before signing with Las Vegas prior to the 2020 season and has played in three games this season.

JACKSONVILLE – The Jaguars have signed RB Craig Reynolds to the practice squad, the team announced. The club now has 15 players on its practice squad.

JACKSONVILLE – The Jaguars have signed CB Quenton Meeks, CB Trevor Williams, WR Damion Willis and DT Gabe Wright to the practice squad, the team announced. The club’s practice squad now has 14 players.

Meeks was originally signed by Jacksonville as an undrafted free agent in 2018, when he played in eight games with one start as a rookie. The Stanford product most recently spent time with the Los Angeles Chargers, where he was signed to the practice squad in 2019 and played in two games this season.

Williams originally signed with the San Diego Chargers in 2016 after a four-year career at Penn State. From 2016-19, he played in 37 games with 27 starts and tallied 110 tackles, three INTs and one fumble recovery for the Chargers. This season, he spent time on the Eagles’ active roster and practice squad before being released from injured reserve on Oct. 20.

After a standout career at Troy University, Willis signed with Cincinnati as an undrafted free agent in 2019. He played in 10 games as a rookie with the Bengals and made nine catches for 82 yards.

Wright was drafted in the fourth round of the 2015 draft by Detroit after playing collegiately at Auburn. He played in 15 games with Detroit, Cleveland, Miami and Oakland from 2015-18. Most recently, he played in five games for the Houston Roughnecks of the XFL in 2019.
