RANKINGS ANALYSIS:As you can see, the top six remain the same…Another shake-up took place in my rankings as Wisconsin, who was ranked #7, suffered a disappointing 24-23 road loss against Illinois, while Boise State, who was ranked #8, had a 28-25 road loss against BYU…Alabama remains at #1 following a 35-13 home win over rival Tennessee. During that game, All-American QB Tua Tagovailoa (the 2018 Maxwell Award winner) suffered a high-ankle sprain, had to leave that game, and uncertain to know when he’ll get to play again. I know if Tua would finish that game, the Crimson Tide would’ve had more than 45 points on the scoreboard. Alabama (without Tua) will have a home game against Arkansas this SAT (7 PM, ESPN) and then a bye-week before a prime-time showdown against LSU at home…Clemson remains at #2 following a 45-10 road win over Louisville. The Tigers defense will have their hands full of stopping All-ACC RB A.J Dillon and that rushing attack as Clemson has a home game against Boston College this SAT (7:30 PM, ACCN)…#3 Oklahoma took care of business with a 52-14 home win over West Virginia. it’s still hard to believe that QB Jalen Hurts had one incompletion in that game. That Sooners defense keeps improving. Oklahoma has a road game against upset-minded Kansas State this SAT (Noon, ABC) before having another bye-week…#4 Ohio State is coming off another enjoyable road trip with a 52-3 road win over Northwestern. The Buckeyes have a home game against Wisconsin, who is coming off that disappointing road loss against Illinois, this SAT (Noon, FOX).If the Badgers redeem themselves and upset those Buckeyes, Wisconsin should be able to move back into my top ten rankings… LSU did better than expected in a 36-13 road win over Miss. State. Another great performance by Heisman hopeful QB Joe Burrow (passed 25-32, 327 yards, and 4 TDs). The Tigers better not look ahead to another bye-week and their prime time showdown against Alabama because these LSU Tigers will have a home game against another team of Tigers from Auburn, who are among my OTMs, this SAT (3:30 PM, CBS). The OL corp of that LSU offense will have their hands full against this DL corp of that Auburn defense…#6 Penn State held on in a tough as expected 28-21 home win over Michigan. The Nittany Lions have a road game against Michigan State, who won the last two games over PSU in the closing seconds, this SAT (3:30 PM, ABC). After this game, Penn State has a bye-week before a Nov.9 road game against Minnesota, who is still undefeated with a 7-0 mark. After that bye-week, the remainder of their schedule will get tougher and the Nittany Lions have enough talent to take care of that body of work…Baylor moved from #9 to #7 following their 45-27 road win over Oklahoma State in which the Bears did better than expected over them Cowboys. Those Bears will have a bye-week this week before having a home game against West Virginia on Halloween (THURS, Oct.31)….#8 Georgia redeemed themselves from that disappointing home loss against South Carolina two SAT’s ago to have a 21-0 home win over Kentucky. RB D’ Andre Swift (rushed  21 carries, 179 yards, and 2 TDs) finally stepped up his game this season. These Bulldogs has a bye-week before their annual neutral-site (in Jacksonville, FL) showdown (aka “the world’s largest cocktail party”) against rival Florida, who is also having a bye-week, on Nov.2. The Gators are coming off a 38-27 road win over upset-minded South Carolina…#9 Notre Dame is coming off a bye-week before their showdown against rival Michigan, who is coming off a road loss against Penn State. The Fighting Irish are currently on a three-game winning streak following that prime time road loss against Georgia…Utah is back in my top ten following a dominating 21-3 home win over Arizona State. I can see the Utes playing in the Pac-12 Championship Game against likely Oregon, who is coming off a 35-31 comeback home win over Washington. Utah has a home game against California this SAT (10 PM, FS1) while Oregon has a home game against Washington State this SAT (10:30 PM, ESPN)…If you ask my why do I not have undefeated teams such as Appalachian State, Minnesota, and SMU not ranked or mentioned, it is because they haven’t played anybody ranked or heavily challenging. SMU is prone to have at least 2 losses sooner than you think. I don’t think Minnesota is capable of defeating Penn State at home (Nov.9) even after a bye-week. Should the Golden Gophers win that game, I will have to rank or mention these Gophers. Appalachian State is that big fish in that small SBC (aka the Sun Belt) pond. A road game against South Carolina on Nov.9 will stop these Mountaineers dead at their tracks and burst their bubble they are living in. If the App State Mountaineers go undefeated past those Gamecocks and win the SBC, they will likely play in a New Year’s Six major bowl game. And I don’t see that happening!
