RICH’S TOP TEN

1. Alabama

2. Clemson

3. Ohio State (4)

4. LSU (5)

5. Penn State (6)

6. Baylor (7)

7. Georgia (8)

8. Oklahoma (3)

9. Utah (10)

10. Oregon (OTM)

OTHER TEAMS TO MENTION (OTM):
Florida, Memphis, Boise State, Minnesota, and Cincinnati

RANKINGS ANALYSIS:As you can see, the top two (#1 Alabama and #2 Clemson remain the same following then-#3 Oklahoma suffering a 48-41 upset road loss against Kansas State. The Sooners move from #3 down to #8 following that disappointing road loss against the K-State Wildcats. Oklahoma played like a championship caliber team and responded after being on a 48-23 deficit and lost on some technicality. The Sooners were charged with illegal touching on an onside kick attempt with one last chance to tie (and force OT) or just win this game. The Sooners will use this bye-week to rebound prior to a Nov. 9 home game against Iowa State… I don’t agree with the AP sportswriters’ poll voting LSU at #1 instead of Alabama, who is the real #1 in the nation. The Tigers are a great team and as good as the Crimson Tide but LSU is currently on a seven-game losing streak against Alabama, who will be the home team in that upcoming showdown on Nov.9 after those two teams have a bye-week. The Crimson Tide haven’t missed a beat after losing All-SEC QB Tua Tagovailoa for that 48-7 home win over Arkansas following a high-ankle sprain injury during a 35-13 home win over Tennessee. LSU moves from #5 to #4 following a 23-20 home win over Auburn, who I expected to give these LSU Tigers a run for their money. If LSU upsets’ Bama, I will have to consider the Tigers as as choice to be ranked #1….Ohio State, who moved from #4 to #3 in my rankings, looked impressive in their 38-7 home win over Wisconsin. The Buckeyes were able to cool Wisconsin RB Jonathan Taylor’s jets and held the 2018 Doak Walker Award winner to under 100 rushing yards. If the Buckeyes remain undefeated when the playoff pairings are announced, put 2 and 2 together (as in the jersey numbers of RB J.K Dobbins and DE Chase Young-provided they both have their way), Dobbins and Young will get an invitation to Orlando, FL (for that annual college football awards show) and New York city (for that annual Heisman Trophy ceremony). Ohio State will have a bye-week before a Nov. 9 home game against Maryland…#2 Clemson continues to be dominant like the defending national champions they are after a 59-7 home win over Boston College. Since their bye-week, the Tigers have won games by more than 30 points. Clemson has a home game against Wofford this SAT (Noon, ACCN), which should be a breeze…Utah is coming off an easy 35-0 home win over California. If the Utes gets past a road game against Washington this SAT (4 PM, FOX), everything should be smooth-sailing before they likely play in the Pac-12 Championship Game..Baylor moves from #7 to #6 after their bye-week. Trick or Treat- the Bears have a home game against West Virginia this THURS (aka Halloween; 8 PM, ESPN). Baylor better not look past a road game against TCU on Nov.9 prior to a Nov.16 home game against defending four-time Big 12 Champions Oklahoma…As expected, Penn State, who moved from #6 to #5, is coming off a 28-7 road win over Michigan State. The Nittany Lions have a bye-week prior to a Nov. 9 road game against Minnesota, who is also undefeated with an upcoming bye-week and in the lead of the Big Ten West Division and among my OTMs….Oregon is coming off a cliffhanging 37-35 comeback home win over Washington State. The Ducks has a road game against upset-minded USC this SAT (8 PM, FOX). These Oregon Ducks better not look past USC for their bye-week… #7 Georgia and Florida are coming off a bye-week to play in “The World’s Largest Cocktail Party” in Jacksonville, FL.  I have the Bulldogs ranked because they are favored to win and have won the last two games this series. I have Florida mentioned because they can surprise anybody when you least expect it. If the “Dawgs win, don’t call it a surprise. The winner of this game will likely win the SEC East Division and play the winner of the LSU at Alabama game in the SEC Championship Game…Memphis, who is among my OTMs with a 7-1 start, has a home-game against undefeated SMU, who is on their first 8-0 start since 1982, this SAT (7:30 PM, ABC). Why do I have these Tigers mentioned instead of those unbeaten Mustangs, who are one of the most surprising teams this season. Both teams are as good as each other but I strongly believe Memphis will stop SMU dead at their tracks. If SMU wins, consider the Mustangs FOR REAL and have their first season with 9 wins since 1984 (finished 10-2 that year). Whoever wins this prime-time AAC West Division showdown should clinch the AAC West Division title and have their tickets punched to play in the AAC Championship Game against likely Cincinnati, who is among my OTMS and on a current 5-game winning streak…Boise State is coming off a bye-week to redeem themselves following that 28-25 road loss against BYU and has a road game against upset-minded San Jose State this SAT (10:30 PM, CBSSN)…After this SAT (Nov.2, 2019), Judgement Day will be upon us as we have two games between undefeated teams- Penn State at Minnesota AND LSU at Alabama (3:30 PM, CBS). As mention, each team in those games have a bye-week. Someone will win and someone will lose. THOSE GAMES ARE SET!!!!
