Renaissance Festival Draws Crowds

Renaissance Festival draws fun loving crowds

From David Volz

South Florida residents continue to enjoy the Florida Renaissance Festival in Deerfield Beach at Quiet Waters Park.

Adeline Dimontfort enjoyed participating in the History of Chivalry and running a game where people could shoot a cross bow. She is part of a group known as the Shire of Leicester. The group hold combat events where people dress in real armor and hold fights to a draw.

There were other encampments including one showing the Ottoman Empire and an apothecary. At the apothecary, people could learn about all the medicine that people used in old Europe. There were many effective treatments for various ailments.

Those who came could enjoy watching jousts with knights in armor. There were plenty of dramatic presentations. There were also many strong musical performances that were well received. There was plenty of food and drink including turkey legs, hamburgers, mead and beer.

There were also shows and even rides for children. They could enjoy mock sword fights. Many families came together to have some fun and fellowship. Many people who came dressed in Renaissance attire. The Festival is a place where one can be a pope, a pirate, a king, a peasant or any other character.
