BOCA RATON, Fla. – (Nov. 25, 2019) – Crystal Primm of the Florida Atlantic University women’s basketball team has been recognized as the Conference USA Player of the Week, as announced by the league on Monday. This marks the first honor of its kind for Primm and first for the Owls since the 2015-16 season.
The graduate student kicked off the week with a solid stat line against Siena in the Owls’ home opener, putting up nine points, eight boards, three assists and two steals. FAU’s 83-39 victory over Siena marked the largest margin of victory for the team since 2013. The guard followed up that performance with a career day against Little Rock, posting a career-high 31 points, along with seven rebounds and four steals. With those numbers, the Owls were able to take down Little Rock, 79-72, for the first time in school history.
Primm ended her week on a high-note, capturing her third double-double in just six games against Western Michigan after recording 13 points and 10 rebounds. The guard had a critical steal with 13 seconds left in the game, while getting fouled in the process. She knocked down the two go-ahead free throws to send the Owls out of Kalamazoo, Michigan with a one point comeback victory, 80-79.
The West Palm Beach, Florida native put up a highlight reel this week. She averaged 17.7 points and 8.3 rebounds per game, as well as tallied seven steals and five assists in the three-game stretch.
After dominating performances in her first six games, Primm is currently ranked first in double-doubles (three), first in free throws made (38), fourth in points per game (16.7) and eight in rebounds per game (8.5) in C-USA. She is also fourth in the country in free throws made.
Primm is the first C-USA Player of the Week since Ali Gorell, who took home the honor on November 16, 2015. Primm is the fifth Owl in program history to be awarded as the C-USA Player of the Week since FAU joined the conference at the start of the 2013-14 season.
