Week 7 Postgame Notes

The Jacksonville Jaguars lost to the Los Angeles Chargers 39-29 in Week 7 and head into their Bye Week with a 1-6 record. 

Head Coach Doug Marrone will be available to the local media on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. ET on Microsoft Teams.  

MINSHEW THROUGH SEVEN: QB Gardner Minshew II completed 14 of 27 passes for 173 yards and two TDs, marking the fourth consecutive road game he’s thrown for multiple TD passes. He joins Patrick MahomesDeshaun WatsonMike Glennon and Marcus Mariota as the only players to throw multiple TD passes in at least 12 of their first 21 career games over the last 10 seasons.  

Through seven games this season, Minshew has completed 176 of 267 passes for 1,855 yards and 13 TDs for a 94.4 QB rating. He is the only player in Jaguars history to complete at least 175 passes through Week 7 of a single season.  

RUMBLIN’ ROBINSON: Undrafted rookie RB James Robinson totaled 137 scrimmage yards (119 rushing, 18 receiving) and one rushing TD and one receiving TD. In the second quarter, he scored on a 4-yard TD run, as well as a 9-yard TD catch with 18 seconds remaining in the first half. He totaled 97 scrimmage yards and two TDs in the first half and joins former Jaguars WR Allen Hurns as the only undrafted rookies in NFL history to post at least 90 scrimmage yards and multiple TDs in the first half of a game.  

Robinson gained 76 scrimmage yards in the second quarter and became the first Jaguars player to total 70-plus scrimmage yards and two TDs in the second quarter since RB Maurice Jones-Drew (Nov. 14, 2010 at Houston). 

Through seven career games, Robinson has totaled 706 scrimmage yards, the most scrimmage yards in NFL history by an undrafted player through seven games. His 27 receptions are the most by an undrafted running back through seven career games in NFL history.  

The TD run was originally ruled down at the 1-yard line, but Head Coach Doug Marrone threw the challenge flag, which was overturned and ruled a TD. Coach Marrone has now won 18 of 28 challenges (64.3 pct.) during his tenure as the head coach of the Jaguars.  

THOMAS’ TOUCHDOWN: The Jaguars scored on a blocked punt for just the fifth time in franchise history and the first since CB Mike Harris scored on a blocked punt on Dec. 12, 2012. S Daniel Thomas blocked a Chargers punt in the third quarter and returned it 16 yards for a TD, becoming the fourth member of the Jaguars rookie class to score this season.  

CAPTAIN CONLEY: WR Chris Conley scored on a 28-yard TD pass from QB Gardner Minshew II, marking the longest Jaguars TD of the season. Conley, who has scored three TDs in Jacksonville’s last two trips to California (two at Oakland in 2019) has caught 62 passes for 999 yards in his Jaguars career and his 16.1 yards per reception rate is the highest in franchise history (min. 50 receptions). The sixth-year veteran has caught three TDs of at least 25 yards from Minshew in the last two seasons after posting TD receptions of 70 yards and 42 yards in 2019.  

SCHOTIME: LB Joe Schobert totaled a team-leading nine tackles and has now led the Jaguars in tackles in the last two games. He has produced at least seven tackles in six of seven games this season and leads Jacksonville with 56 tackles this season.  

VISKA 2 LIVE: Rookie WR Laviska Shenault Jr. posted the longest reception of his career, a 37-yard catch on third down in the second quarter. Shenault’s catch set up a TD for fellow rookie RB James Robinson who scored on a 4-yard run and then followed the TD with a successful run on a two-point conversion. Shenault finished as the Jaguars leading receiver with three receptions for 44 yards.
