Pompano Beach to hold cash for guns event

As part of a comprehensive effort to reduce gun violence, the City of Pompano Beach in partnership with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Pompano Beach District, is holding a “cash for guns” event on Saturday, June 4th, at the E. Pat Larkins Center located at 520 Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

No identification is needed to turn in a firearm, and no questions are asked of persons dropping off firearms. People who return hand guns, assault rifles and other firearms under the amnesty program will be eligible to receive up to $150 per weapon in the form of a pre-paid gift card.

The Cash For Guns initiative is funded by the City of Pompano Beach utilizing forfeiture dollars (Law Enforcement Trust Fund). Payment will be made by gift cards at the site.

Weapons returned must be unloaded and placed in a box, or plastic or paper bag. Individuals can surrender as many firearms as they wish to provide.
