PANTHERS POSTGAME QUOTES

Forward Sam Reinhart

On home ice advantage in the playoffs:

“It has been huge right from the start. We feel comfortable here. Our fans really help us out so anytime you can get that advantage, it’s a nice thing to have.”

On his first year in South Florida:

“It picked up quite a bit. After the first 20 games, there has been a feeling of process trying to find my game, find out how I can contribute and help out this team. Once I was able to do that, settle down and start playing my game, producing a lot more.

Forward Mason Marchment

On tonight’s game:

“I think we will take a couple things away from it, but I think for the most part we’ve just got to move on. We have been really good the last 12, 13 games. I‘m happy the way our team stuck together there. No one’s going to push us around now or ever. I think that was one thing we’re going to take out of this.”

On physicality looking towards the playoffs:

“It’s huge. That’s how you win. For us to be able to stand up for each other, put our nose in the dirt, and just work for each other. I think that’s huge and just got to keep doing it.”

Interim Head Coach Andrew Brunette

On the game tonight and staying focused:
“I don’t think [this loss] gets to us at all. I thought five-on-five was fine. A little disappointed in our powerplays—we gave up goals. You can’t give a team like [Tampa] goals late. We got in a little penalty trouble, and they score on the powerplay—they’re a great powerplay team. We know that going in, but it’s a hockey game. We showed our resilience, we showed our grit, we didn’t back down. We fought through adversity, outside influences, and played our game.”

CATS STATS

  • The Panthers franchise-record 13-game winning streak came to an end. It marked the longest winning streak by an NHL team this season.
  • Florida concluded their home slate with a club-record and league-leading 34 wins (34-7-0). They posted three separate home winning streaks of at least nine games, and two streaks of 11 straight home wins. Their franchise-record 191 home goals (4.66 goals per game) are the most in one season since PIT recorded 215 in 1995-96.
  • Florida’s 40.4 shots per game at home is the fourth-highest in NHL history, with only three other teams averaging more (BOS in 1969-70 & 1970-71, PHI in 1975-76).
  • Sam Reinhart tallied two goals, his fifth multi-goal game this season, the second-most on Florida. His first goal marked his 30th of the season, becoming the fourth Panthers skater to reach 30 goals in 2021-22, the most in a season in franchise history. The Panthers and the Flames are the only two clubs with four 30-goal scorers this season.
  • Reinhart’s second tally was his team-leading 15th power-play goal of the season, four shy of the single-season club record.
  • Claude Giroux notched two assists. He has produced five points (1-4-5) over his past two outings, and 22 points (3-19-22) over 17 games with Florida. He also won 11 of his 18 faceoffs (61%).
