PANTHERS POSTGAME QUOTES

Forward Ryan Lomberg

On the high intensity of tonight’s game:

“Yeah, it’s fun. We have such a close-knit group that no matter what the case is, we stick together out there. Happy to see the boys stick up for one another and let everyone know that we all got each other’s back.”

On getting back in the win column:

“It’s huge. We’ve been so good [at home] all year. To be on the losing side of a few games like that—none of us were happy. We had a few days [off] there, we regrouped, and I thought we played a really good, complete game tonight.”

Forward Patric Hornqvist

On the win tonight:
“It felt great, if you want to be one of the top teams in the league you can’t lose three in a row at home. We put that behind us. We learned from it and I think tonight was one our best 60-minute effort in a long time. We didn’t give them much and the scoring chances they got were on our power play.”

“It was a great team effort from everyone.”
Defenseman Brandon Montour

On Florida’s motivation:
“We know what we’re all about. If we play good or bad and we lose a game, its three in a row, we know in our room its unacceptable. We’re a good enough team not to do that. I think we just came in, had practices, had some good rest here for a couple days and guys had some energy tonight.”

On Sergei Bobrovsky’s shutout:
“[Ottawa] had a couple chances, two-on-ones, breakaways, but he was steady. He’s been steady all year, he’s the backbone, so it’s good to get that one for him.”

On play of Mason Marchment:
“You see his tough injury to get going in the start of the year. Obviously, a talented kid, big boy. He’s having a heck of a year. To see him on that [power-play] unit, get some reps and get some time, it’s good to see him put the puck in the back of the net. So, we need him to keep doing that.”

Interim Head Coach Andrew Brunette

On the win tonight:
“I thought the fortitude and the resiliency for tonight was a really good test for us. It wasn’t coming easy. We had so many different looks, where pucks have gone in in the past, and lately they haven’t been going in. But we stayed within the game plan, within the structure of how we want to play. We didn’t deviate, we didn’t cheat to make it better. We stayed to the plan and the grit that we showed just to stay in the battle was going to turn. So I’m proud of that part of our game.”

On the depth of all four lines:
“It takes all four lines and all six [defensemen] to win hockey games in this league and it can’t always be certain guys, and tonight they were outstanding, and they got rewarded. They’ve been outstanding all year but it’s fun when the last little while they’ve been maybe a little bit dry, and for them to get some goals was really fun to see.”
