PANTHERS POSTGAME QUOTES – MARCH 28, 2021

Head Coach Joel Quenneville

“You lose a guy like Ek [defenseman Aaron Ekblad]…and it’s not an easy game to go through. I thought the guys stayed with it and battled. It was a big two points for [Ekblad], and for us.”

“He [defenseman Aaron Ekblad] was great this year, I think he had so many games where he was dominant defensively, his offensive contributions joining the attack, added a different dimension to our power play…you couldn’t ask for anything more.”

“I liked the way the guys hung together and found ways to win. Huby [forward Jonathan Huberdeau] had a big night today, yesterday was Hags’ [forward Carter Verhaeghe] day, but I still think you’ve got to battle, around the net, playing the right way.”

“I still think there’s a group here that has the ability to find ways to win hockey games. We need to find out what it’s like to win in the playoffs.”

Forward Jonathan Huberdeau

“He’s [defenseman Aaron Ekblad] a great guy, a great teammate…We had to come out in the third period and play well. We got the win for him tonight.”

“I think the last two games, we’ve been playing better, we’ve got to take that and get confidence and play better the rest of the season. I think the team played well tonight and that’s how we’re going to win some games, when everybody’s playing well and playing hard.”

Defenseman Keith Yandle

“The first couple minutes after (defenseman Aaron Ekblad’s injury) while you see your teammate, your friend, on the ice, it’s never easy. Whether it’s a guy on your team or the other team, it’s tough to see that.”

“He [goaltender Chris Driedger] was awesome. He’s a calm goalie, he’s good positionally and he’s a guy that when he’s called upon, he brings his A game. For us to have two goalies that you can count on every night is a huge advantage.”

“I think it shows good resilience from our group, finding ways to win the last two games (of the road trip). Huge win last night in overtime, quick turnaround the next day. I thought we played a pretty good 60 minutes.”
