PANTHERS POSTGAME QUOTES

Forward Patric Hornqvist

On the Panthers effort tonight:

“We knew it was going to be a tough game coming in. They’re a really good road team, we’re a really good home team. I think the first 20 were kind of even but after that we took over the game and did the right things. Bob [goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky] came up big for us when we needed it and we got some big goals at big moments. When we do that it’s hard to beat us.”

On the play of Anton Lundell:

“He’s a really mature kid. He plays on the right side of the puck all over the game and he does the right things out there, and when you do that you get rewarded with ice time, you get rewarded with points. He’s going to be a big piece of this organization for a long time and we’re happy to have him.”

On playing at home:

“It’s confidence. It’s fun to play at home. You come out ready and we have energy and now we have to bring that on the road. We have to play with a little more confidence on the road and I think this road trip here coming up is a good test for us. We just have to go out there and earn it and play the right way with a little swagger.”

Forward Ryan Lomberg

On scoring a goal and getting the win:

“It feels good. Obviously anytime you win it’s a good thing. They’re a good hockey club so it was an important one for us. Now we head on the road for a couple games so looking forward to that.”

On playing with Patric Hornqvist:

“To play with Horny is great, it’s easy. He’s a guy that has contagious energy, he brings everybody on board. He’s always going, he’s predictable. Our line has been playing well and he’s been a huge reason why.”

On the Panthers synergy:

“We’re a close group. We all get so excited seeing our teammates have success. I think that’s part of being a really good team and a close-knight group is when we’re almost happier when other guys have success versus ourselves. It’s a close group, we’re having fun and we’re playing the right way and we’re winning so we’re having a ton of fun.”

On if the Panthers get a boost playing at FLA Live Arena:

“Absolutely we do. Our fans have been great and we don’t expect anything less. Whether we’re playing good or bad they have our back and they’re going to bring that energy. It’s great, we really appreciate our fans.”

Interim Head Coach Andrew Brunette

On the Panthers getting recognition around the league this season:

“Over the course of the last season, I think they have earned it as a group. I think a lot of people from the hockey world, not just other teams, but other players I have played with kept saying that is the best hockey they have watched against Tampa in the playoffs. They love the way we play.

It is still early in the season, there is a long way to go to say we are anywhere really, but anybody that turns on a hockey game and watches the Florida Panthers play right now is going to be entertained, sometimes too entertained on both ends of the ice. We showed a bit in that second period and in the third.  When we get wave after wave and everybody rolling, we are a pretty dangerous hockey team. Again, I have been pretty fortunate to coach these guys.”

On Forwards Patric Hornqvist and Ryan Lomberg:

“It is always fun to see them score. I think [Lomby’s] goal, [Horny] kinda gets hit pretty hard and comes back. That is kind of the resiliency of our group in a nutshell there. He goes across the ice and finishes a good hard clean hit. They kind of get upset about it and [Lomby] scores on a breakaway. That shows what kind of group we are, we are not going to back down, we are going to stay the course and take care of each other.

They have been our heartbeat the last six weeks here and its always fun to see them score. [Horny] competes so hard, the both of them do, it is nice to see them get some goals.”
