PANTHERS POSTGAME QUOTES – JAN. 19, 2021

Head Coach Joel Quenneville

“It was an exciting game. I liked the way we battled back. Big, timely power-play goal by Horny (forward Patric Hornqvist) in front of the net. It was a huge win and we’ll take it but certainly some parts of our game have to get better but I like the pace that we showed.”

“When the game was 4-3, I like how he (goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky) battled at that point of the game and stayed with it. I think that’s a good sign he can recapture how it feels to be solid from start to finish. He hadn’t seen a lot of pucks and a lot of traffic and tonight when you see it at that pace there’s some catching up to do.”

Forward Frank Vatrano

“It was obviously a great feeling. A great play all around by Barky (forward Aleksander Barkov) and Weegs (defenseman MacKenzie Weegar). I think it was a good team effort tonight. I think we’re a relentless team and that’s a good quality to have.”

“It’s huge. When you get off to a start like that, two wins under our belt, especially in a season that is shortened, we have to make sure we get off on the right foot every single game and get the points when they’re there.”

Forward Carter Verhaeghe

“It definitely shows a lot of resilience from this group. It happened last game too, we were up a little bit, they came back and right away we answered. I think that’s a good sign for our group and it shows character.”

“Yeah it’s the NHL for a reason. Anyone can beat anyone on any given night and I think we did a good job not taking them lightly trying to just play our game and stick to what we do best. The NHL is a tough league to play in. It’s the best league in the world so we just have to come out every night and be our best.”

Goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky

“We know they have offensive weapons, they have good guys up front. But at this time of the year it’s more about us, about our structure. Getting to know each other and building chemistry.”

“I think I felt pretty good. There were a couple of mistakes here and there by me, so I have to clean it up but overall I felt well. My legs were good, my movement was good. Most important thing for me is the win.”
